Upgraded PRD PM1703xx-II Series have improved CsI(Tl) detector characteristics and fully comply with ANSI N42.32-2016.
The extended measurement range is enabled by the installed new CsI(Tl) detector with a semiconductor photomultiplier (SiPM).

PM1703GNA-II is a gamma-neutron PRD with three built in detectors ( Csl(TI);6LiF/ZnS, GM counter). It has such competitive features as high sensitivity, extended DE and DER measurement ranges, compact size, user-friendly interface, low-energy operation, waterproof and shockproof case, bluetooth radio channel.
The instrument can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments for detection and localization of gamma and neutron radiation sources and measurement of dose equivalent rate (DER).

Operation Principle
Instruments of PM1703xx-II Series were successfully tested in ORNL.
As well as previous well-known modifications of PRD PM1703 Series, PM1703GNA-II MBT continuously monitors the environment for radiation, evaluates personal Dose Equivalent Rate (DER) of gamma raiation, measures the current value of DE and alert the user with a visual, audio and/or vibrating alarm if a radiation source is detected. The readings of the instrument are displayed in counts per second for both neutron and gamma detectors and the search algorithm based on background calibration is used. The Instrument has “Mode 0…9” , which is designed to display the current level of gamma radiation background in the form of digits from 0 to 9. Instrument is equipped with 6LiF/ZnS-screen based neutron detector, which complies with ANSI N42.32-2016 requirements.
All operations history is stored in the instrument non-volatile memory (up to 2000 data points), protecting the data even when the battery is removed. The stored data can also be transferred to the PC via USB interface or via Bluetooth® . Storing data format is designed to meet ANSI N42.42.
Supress NORM algorithm
This algorithm allows excluding alarm signal when the natural gamma background value increases and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) are detected. If NORM are detected - green indication light is given. In the case the other radionuclides types (IND, NUC, MED) are detected, red indication light and sound alarm are activated.
Modifications
- - (basic model) is designed to detect, search, and localize gamma and neutron radioactive sources by their external gamma and neutron radiation, as well as to measure personal Dose Equivalent Rate (DER) of gamma radiation;
- PM1703GNA–II BT additionally to the functions of the basic model, is equipped with Bluetooth radio channel that enables the function of smartphones communication;
- PM1703GNA–II MBT – differs from the basic model by extended range of DER measurement, availability of personal Dose Equivalent (DE) measurement and Bluetooth.
Communicaton with smartphone
PM1703MA-II BT can transfer data via Bluetooth®4.0 to smartphones based on Android (version 6.0 and higher) with "Polismart®" Mobile App. Free Mobile App is available for AndroidTM mobile devices and can be downloaded from Google PlayTM.
Options
- PM1703GNA-II MBT can be equipped with holster that provides additional protection in various weather conditions. It can be also fixed on the waist belt using belt loop.
- PM1703GNA-II MBT can be equipped with telescopic extension pole for operating in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
